Can GarageBand remove silence automatically?
Short answer: no. GarageBand for iOS has no automatic truncate-silence or remove-silence feature. The desktop "Strip Silence" tool that some Logic and DAW users know simply isn't in the iPhone app. So there's no one-tap way to do it inside GarageBand on iOS.
The manual workaround (and why it hurts)
You can do it by hand: split each region at the start and end of a pause, delete the silent region, and drag the pieces together. On a short jingle that's tolerable.
